I've been thinking carefully, analyzing the things I've learnt in the past few weeks, while sitting by this fire, watching the sun go down. Kit and his lady have yet to make an appearance - they must have wandered far from base if it's taking them so long to get back. If it were anyone else with Knight Secura, I'd worry that they'd managed to lose themselves in the middle of these woods, or that they'd been eaten by a rancor, or that they'd fallen into quicksand. But Kit's one of those people who seem to have been born for living like this - which puts my mind at rest.
Knowing what most couples in this galaxy are like, they're probably out there, doing something I'd rather not be able to confirm.
Anyway.
There are only three reasons I can think of which would explain why a Jedi Master needs to live in the armpit of the galaxy in order to look after his ex-Padawan's sprog (incidentally, fostered out to the adoptive family of said ex-Padawan), instead of travelling by the metaphorical straight line, and simply raising the child as his own.
i) The Master in question feels a moral obligation to keep watch over the child
ii) The level of care that this child may receive from its adopted family has been deemed insufficient OR the family to whom the child has been entrusted are in some way incapable of providing the needed care
iii) Due to circumstances, the Master is not in a position to be able to care for the child himself OR his doing so carries a not insignificant element of risk: hence, the fostering and the living in a shithole.
Given the foregoing, and the fact that the Master in question is Master K, and the child is Mr. Skywalker's baby; I have drawn the following conclusions -
a) Luke is gifted in the Force, and sufficiently so as to warrant the closest watchcare that the Order - as it is - can afford;
b) Things being as they presently are, the galaxy is potentially in as much danger from this child as the child is from the assholes that run it;
c) The child is being hidden in plain sight - why? Gut feel - Mr. Skywalker doesn't know of his existence, Anakin is dead, Darth Vader has no attachment, so to speak, to Tatooine OR the Larses;
d) Mummy is either dead or extremely neglectful, hence the need to foster out.
Working on the assumption that Mummy is dead, whom do we know of who died within the last six months, would have been in a position to get close enough to Mr. Skywalker in order to.. well, to conceive his child, and whose family either cannot, will not, or had better not take in the orphan?
Senator Amidala is the only person I can think of who'd fit into all three boxes. More than that, the hypothesis works perfectly with the rough framework that I've been able to put together from the sketchy details surrounding her mysterious demise.
Which means that Mr. Skywalker and Senator Amidala did in fact get married. Now, when could that have happened? I shall need to think about that. Motive is clear enough - he had always idolized her, even as a child. What I need to find is opportunity.
Yet another adoptee. By my estimate - probably, possibly - indeed quite likely - of roughly the same vintage as Luke Skywalker.
Adopted by parents who are:
i) Staunch supporters of the Republic (i.e. anything NOT Empire)
ii) Loyal friends of the Jedi
iii) Habitual hosts to Jedi
iv) Jedi afficionados (their LIBRARY, for Force's sake!)
v) Perpetually worried about her safety (Bail, at least)
vi) Convinced that the Empire will take an interest in her (Bail, again)
vii) Convinced that said interest goes beyond the merely malevolent (ditto)
viii) Canny enough politicians to have managed to stay under the radar thus far, and are likely to do so for a long time yet, if they play their cards right
ix) ..were, rather, family and personal friends of the late Senator Amidala.
As for the child? Mother - dead. Father - missing, presumed dead. Extended family - unwilling. Source - Bail hedged a lot on this one. I suspect that the usual channels were not employed in her adoption.
Holy. Kriffing. Shit.
There are too many parallels.
If, if my suspicions are right - and I do not see any reason now to think otherwise - and Leia comes from the same stock as does Luke -
FUCK. FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKITTYFUCK.
Masters Shaak Ti and Luminara must be warned. The Force-signature of that one child alone will be akin to a bright beacon flooding the core of an oppressively dark galaxy; with the combined light of two - no, THREE Jedi there, it's a kriffing fireworks display.
Master Shaak Ti, Master Luminara, Ahsoka Tano! If you have not already done so, draw in your presence in the Force as far as you can. And keep it that way. Your safety and that of your hosts is dependent upon it.
Fuck. What do I do? What do I do!?
THINK, Ferus. You can manage this. You are a Jedi. Use the Force. Calm your mind....

- Tatooine, and Alderaan

Master Luminara, I know that Master Shaak Ti and yourself are doing the very best you can with salvaging the archives - but I'm afraid that you may have to speed things up a little. Alderaan will not be safe for so many Jedi to stay on for too much longer, I fear.

It is not so much yours and Ahsoka's presences on Alderaan. It's something far worse.. I mean, greater.
